Extraction and Computation of Chinese Temporal Relation

Abstract:Temporal relation is inherited in most time and event concepts as an evident natural clue for information organization. This paper studies temporal relations between time and time, event and time as well as event and event in Chinese on the base of information extraction and temporal annotation. Temporal relations in Chinese texts are extracted with the help of syntactic and semantic knowledge. And context-dependent rules are defined to compute temporal relations between information from different texts. This study contributes to organize, accumulate and share results by information extraction. It is also be useful in some advanced NLP tasks, such as event tracing and multi-text summarization.
