Abstract: This paper summarizes the researches on automated essay scoring, including the development of automated essay scoring system. It also examines the tasks, public datasets and popular metrics in of automated essay scoring. The main techniques and models for automated essay scoring are reviewed, as well as the challenges in terms of both native Chinese speakers and non-native Chinese speakers.; Finally, the prospects for future automated essay scoring is discussed.
